2022 Halloween Events at the Library

Let's Get Spooky! Halloween at the LibraryFrom Halloween ComicFest to Zombie LARP, enjoy fab-"BOO"-lous, spooky events for all ages this October!


Halloween ComicFest @ the Library! Drawn to Comics (5801 W. Glendale Ave.), downtown Glendale's source for comic books, gaming, and collectibles, is teaming up with the library once again to treat you to a spooktacular all-ages Halloween celebration! Choose from an assortment of free comics while you pose with your favorite cosplay characters from the Phoenix Ghostbusters, the Arizona Autobots (Transformers), the 501st Legion, Dune Sea Garrison (Star Wars), Timeless Enchantments (Disney princesses), and more. Visit over 20 cool vendors and exhibitors, including local comic book creators. Create origami, buttons, masks, and a "flapping bat" at our creepy craft stations. Don’t be afraid to compete for prizes in Rick & Morty Bowling, a Zombie Nerf Shooting Gallery, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pizza Toss, Pumpkin Chuckin’ Basketball, a Ghost Scavenger Hunt, and a Spooky Video Game Tournament presented by the Umbrella Corporation, Arizona Hive (Resident Evil). Wear your own costume and join in the livestreaming fashion show hosted by ThermoCosplay! Activities will take place at the Velma Teague Library and at the Drawn to Comics store located across the street. Saturday, October 22, 5-8 PM. Velma Teague Library.


Getting Crafty with Miss Janet: Halloween Craft. This month, Miss Janet will present a special not-so-scary Halloween craft project for kids, ages 5-11. Crafters younger than 6 years old will need an adult helper. Monday, October 10, 4-5 PM. Velma Teague Library Meeting Room.

Halloween Craft for Kids: Jack-o'-Lantern 3D Printing! Kids, ages 8-12, can learn about 3D printing by designing and printing their own mini jack-o'-lantern! Registration is required. Sunday, October 23, 1-3 PM. Heroes Regional Park Library Yucca Room. 

Not "Beary" Scary. All set for Halloween? We are! We're looking forward to seeing you at our Not "Beary" Scary Halloween event for preschoolers, toddlers, and their caregivers. Wear your costumes if you want to, and join us for games, crafts, a short storytime, and more! Thursday,  October 27, 10:30-11:30 AM. Main Library Youth Department. 

Boo Bash! Come dressed in your Halloween best and take part in fun games and crafts the whole family can enjoy. Thursday, October 27, 4-5 PM. Foothills Library Youth Department. 

Crafty Kids: Haunted Snow Globe. 'Tis the season for bats and jack-o'-lanterns! Kids, ages 5-11, are invited to make their very own "slightly" haunted snow globe at this first-come, first-served craft. Thursday, October 27, 4-5 PM. Main Library Storytime Room.


Day of the Dead Skull Rocks! Drop by the Teen Zone and create a cool and colorful Día de los Muertos skull rock using acrylic paints and design templates of your choice. Ages 12-18. Monday, October 24, 6:30-7:45 PM. Velma Teague Library Teen Zone. 

Zombie LARP XI: Punk Pirate Zombies of the Caribbean!
Teen Afterhours. ARRRR you ready to save the world from yet another zombie apocalypse?? Thanks to a double-whammy of hexed punk rock and cursed pirate booty, we need you, yer mateys, your eye patches and mohawks to protect us all! Costumes are always welcome. This program is for teens, ages 12-18, only. Registration is required. Friday, October 28, 6:30-8:30 PM. Main Library. 


The Afterlife: Through the Light and Back Again. Presenters Cindy and Mike will share some of what they have learned working with death, dying and the afterlife over the past five decades. There will be time for some audience questions (sorry, no readings), along with a short demonstration on how you can develop your own intuitive abilities. Please bring along a 5x7 or larger picture of someone you know well but others will not know. Monday, October 24, 6:30-8 PM. Foothills Library Roadrunner Room.
